The love for shoemaking emerged in adolescence with the need to help with the family income. At the age of 14, Urias, who only completed primary school, had his first record as a shoemaker and little suspected that his entrepreneurial instinct was also being formed there.

The beginnings of the Democrats were modest. Production began in 1983, in the city of Franca, in São Paulo - where the company's headquarters are still located - with less than 10 pairs. However, the goal of the entrepreneur, at the time 30 years old, has always been to achieve something bigger. It's no wonder that the two factories he has in Ceará produce 12,000 pairs a day, of which 30% are for export. There are 2100 employees that the businessman insists on maintaining with an increasingly qualified work standard.

Urias saw the ups and downs of the economy and faced crises, but he always maintained serenity in business for a focused and visionary management. Democrata was a pioneer in the production of men's shoes with comfort soles and developed the exclusive Air technology, which brings the famous air bubbles to help you walk with less impact. It also gave a new air to combat boots and heavy boots, bringing the concept of the Garage line to the day-to-day life of contemporary men, which has been a sales success since its launch.

That is why the brand's models have become a reference, and have conquered many consumers around the world, in addition to Brazilians. Constant research on the most modern technologies and trends in the footwear sector means that, since 2006, Democrata has exported to more than 60 countries, including countries in Latin America, the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
