MyDriveHero uses a foreground location service to support automatic trip detection and active trip recording. This is core functionality of the app: users earn rewards based on accurately recorded driving trips and safe-driving scores.

The foreground service allows MyDriveHero to continue recording an active trip when the app is not open on screen, while showing a persistent notification to the user. Without this service, trip recording may stop or be delayed, resulting in incomplete trips, inaccurate safety scores, and incorrect reward calculations.

Users can stop trip recording by turning off tracking permissions, disabling location access, or closing/stopping the app.
