Charge Nomad

Charge Nomad helps you find EV chargers and plan road trips around Australia.

I built it because planning a long trip in an EV still means juggling three apps and a spreadsheet. This is the app I wanted when I got my own EV.

What it does:

FIND CHARGERS

A map of charging stations across Australia with connector types, power ratings and notes from other drivers about what the station is actually like.

COMMUNITY CHARGERS

Some chargers just aren't on any map yet. Add them, leave notes for other drivers, and rate the stations you use. Everything gets reviewed before it goes public.

TRIP COST CALCULATOR

See exactly what a trip costs in electricity, and what it would've cost you in petrol.

YOUR STATS

Charging streaks, trip history, and how much CO2 you've saved compared to driving petrol.

The core app is free to use, no ads.

CHARGE NOMAD+

An optional upgrade if you're planning longer trips.

Route Planner picks charging stops for a whole trip based on your car's real range, with a backup suggested near each stop in case one's busy or offline. Range Estimator shows how far you can actually get on your current charge. You can save every car in your household, not just one, and there are Home Screen widgets for your range, garage, weekly savings, streak, nearest charger, and a quick trip cost estimate. You can also set your own accent color across the app, with matching app icons.

A note on data: charger info comes from Open Charge Map plus community submissions. Availability isn't live, so always have a plan B on long trips.
