Really Simple Podcast Player

READ THIS FIRST: this app plays audio files that are already on your device or SD card. It does not download podcasts, search for shows, or connect to the internet. You add the files — MP3, M4A, M4B, AAC or MP4 audio — then your child presses play.

How the files get there is up to you: downloaded from a podcast app, saved from Google Drive or Dropbox, copied from a computer, or dropped onto an SD card. Once they're on the device, point this app at the folder and hand the phone over.

No menus to get lost in. No settings to break. Big, clear controls and a single list of episodes. Once you've chosen the folder, there's nothing left to configure.

📁 Setting it up (parent, two minutes)

1. Put your audio files in a folder on the device or SD card

2. Open the app and tap to choose that folder

3. Hand the phone or tablet over

🔒 No internet. At all.

The app does not request internet permission, so Android will not allow it to open a network connection — even if it tried. No ads, no pop-ups, no recommended videos, no way for anyone to contact your child, and nothing that can lead them somewhere you didn't intend.

That's a technical guarantee enforced by the operating system, not a promise in a policy document.

🚫 Nothing collected, nothing sold

No accounts. No sign-in. No analytics. No crash reporting. No advertising ID. No device identifiers. There is no server, so there is nowhere for your child's information to go.

💳 No purchases

No in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no premium tier, no "unlock" prompts. Nothing your child can accidentally buy.

🎧 What to put in the folder

Anything you've downloaded and approved yourself — children's podcasts, audiobooks, story recordings, language lessons, bedtime audio. Because the app plays only what you put there, you decide exactly what your child can hear.

Remembers your position in every episode, shows artwork embedded in the files, and keeps playing when the screen is off.

🚗 Good for offline

No signal needed. Useful on planes, in the car, on the underground, or anywhere you'd rather not hand a child an internet-connected device.

The app asks only for what background playback requires: permission to keep playing when the screen is off, and permission to show the playback notification. No location, no camera, no microphone, no contacts, and no access to your storage beyond the folder you choose.
