This book was written as an Informatics learning handbook for class VIII students, which is designed to be a continuation of informatics lessons which refer to the Class VII Informatics Student Book.

In a world that is currently entering the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0, Informatics is a scientific discipline that must be mastered by everyone, and its practical aspects are needed from an early age. As a result, in many countries, informatics is starting to be taught from an earlier age, especially to form a mindset called computational thinking, which is one of the new literacies, in line with digital literacy.

The Informatics curriculum consists of 8 elements, namely Computational Thinking (BK), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Systems (SK), Computer Networks and the Internet (JKI), Data Analysis (AD), Algorithms and Programming (AP), Impact Social Informatics (DSI), and Cross-Sector Practicum (PLB). All elements of this knowledge will be studied through activities designed in this student book, so that students can deepen and expand concepts and add to the skills that students have undertaken according to the Class VII Informatics Student Book.

The learning activities carried out in class VIII have the same pattern as class VII, namely there are individual and group activities. Activities can also be carried out plugged (requires a computer) and/or unplugged (does not require a computer).

With unplugged activities, informatics learning is not tied to or dependent on electronic devices alone. The hope is that students can understand the concepts and implementation of informatics better and more meaningfully. The material and activities presented have been adapted to the needs of class VIII students and packaged in an attractive form accompanied by pictures and characters.

Hopefully this student book can provide benefits and can be used as a companion for studying Informatics as well as possible. The author really hopes for suggestions and constructive criticism to improve the writing of the book further.
