IntoMed

IntoMed wants to be a support tool for patients and relatives affected by Hereditary Fructose Intolerance (HFI), Fructose Malabsorption, Lactose Intolerance, Diabetes, Celiac Disease, Galactosemia and Phenylketonuria, as well as for healthcare personnel, informing about tolerance of drugs according to their excipients.

The excipients in the prescription nomenclature of the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS: https://cima.aemps.es/cima/publico/nomenclator.html) have been classified according to 7 pathologies (congenital or acquired) and via of administration, taking into account the information of CIRCULAR Nº 1/2018 (Update of information on excipients in drug information, Spanish Agency of Medicines and Health Products) and bibliographic sources of recognized prestige.

In gastrointestinal intolerances (lactose intolerance and fructose malabsorption) only oral excipients have been contraindicated/not recommended. In the case of fructose and sorbitol orally and parenterally (not intravenously), according to current legislation, an alert will only appear in the data sheet for patients with HFI in the case of exceeding 5 mg/kg/day (CIRCULAR Nº 1/ 2018 AEMPS).

The methodology has been designed and reviewed by pharmacists from the Pharmacy Service of the Infanta Leonor University Hospital.
