The anime is based on the high school volleyball-themed sports manga by Haruichi Furudate, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) starting in 2012.

"The fallen powerhouse, the flightless crows." Karasuno High School, once known as such, aims for the top.

A passionate youth volleyball story unfolds, featuring the protagonist, Shoyo Hinata, who is captivated by volleyball, and a cast of unique characters.

In February 2024, "Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Garbage Dump" was released, and it was announced that a sequel movie and a special anime would be released in 2027.
