The app for creative individuals

Explore the Harz Mountains with lovingly designed, informative maps produced locally for hiking, mountain biking, cycling, and gravel biking. For all activities, we offer specific map views that clearly illustrate the signposted hiking and cycling trail network, as well as other routes suitable for hiking and cycling. Mountain bikers can also find the difficulty levels of the trails directly on the MTB map. Equipped with this wealth of information, you can develop your own routes virtually without limits.

In addition, around 300 suggested tours offer an easy introduction to the extensive network of trails in the Harz Mountains.

Integration with our printed maps

For 30 years, Schmidt-Buch-Verlag Wernigerode has been producing leisure maps for the Harz Mountains. Unlike many traditional outdoor apps, we don't use third-party basemaps like OpenStreetMap. Instead, we generate our maps – both printed and digital – entirely from our own database. The app's maps feature the same style familiar from our printed products.

Plan your individual routes using our printed maps and then use the app to explore! This makes hybrid navigation with map and smartphone a convenient interplay: simply switch the medium, not the content!

The right maps for your activities:

- Basic map for purists (recommended for use with our tours)

- Hiking map with signposted trails and additional recommendations

- MTB map with trail levels and descriptions (only for the Upper Harz region and south of Goslar)

- Cycling map with signposted cycle paths and additional recommendations for touring bikes, gravel bikes, and mountain bikes

Trail closures/information

Our maps include temporarily closed trails, bridges, observation towers, and similar features, as well as current information to help you plan your trip. We update this information regularly. It will also be displayed on your offline map when you have a Wi-Fi connection.

Search

Our search function helps you quickly find stamping stations, mountain and cliff names, points of interest, and many other landmarks on the map. It also displays tours that match your search query.

Legends

Content-specific legends (button "i" in the upper right corner) explain the respective map information in detail, allowing you to plan countless tours of your own.

Get started with our tours right away

With more than 300 tours, you can head straight into the Harz wilderness and cultural landscape. The tours can be combined as desired with the maps – base map, hiking map, cycling map, and mountain bike map. The tours were developed, reviewed, and implemented by us, our authors, and other local partners. For better clarity, we recommend using the base map when planning your tour. Elevation profiles and additional tour information supplement each route suggestion.
